Painting became part of espanyolet through our work with textiles. We spent years thinking about how colours meet, overlap and change across a surface, and that interest found another form in paintings.

Some of the works shown here were made for particular homes. Working with a room in mind brought questions of scale, light and the materials surrounding a piece into the painting process. It gave us another way to explore colour within the spaces we designed. Together, these paintings form part of our continuing interest in making: following an idea through materials and seeing what takes shape.
